Food bank
We are really pleased to be able to offer the Oxford Food Bank support at Pegasus School every Friday.
Who are the Oxford Food Bank?
The Oxford Food Bank was set up more than 10 years ago as a means to combat food waste in the supply chain by matching up surplus food with charities and community groups that could make use of it.
We collect about a tonne of produce each day that supermarkets and wholesalers would otherwise throw away and distribute it for free to more than 100 charities in Oxford and further afield.
This enables these charities to access a wide range of good quality fruit, vegetables, bakery and dairy and thereby save money and create nutritious meals for their clients, educate about cooking and nutrition, and lift people out of food poverty.
This has contributed to creating a community around sharing, cooking and eating.
When and Where will this happen?
This will be set up in the community café by the reception building. It will be a socially distanced movement through the café space with limited numbers at one time. This will be explained when you arrive. Please bring your own bag and wear a mask. You will help yourself (within reason) to the food that is on offer. Each week this can change as what we get is dependent on the offer from supermarkets etc.
Timings are 1:30pm – 3:15pm
